Risks Identification
Identifying water-related risks to the business helps us strategies water usage and define the water source, minimizing operational inefficiencies and surface water usage.
Water Intensity Reduction
We have witnessed a significant 28% reduction in water intensity (per rupee of turnover) compared to FY 2021-22, highlighting our dedication to optimizing water usage in our mining operations.
Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD)
At all our mine sites, we have successfully implemented Zero Liquid Discharge. In addition, at five of our airports (Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Guwahati, Lucknow, and Mangalore), we have implemented a dedicated mechanism for Zero Liquid Discharge.
Continuous Monitoring and Reporting

Case studies
Green Car Wash Initiative with CleanCart
At Ahmedabad and Mangaluru Airports, we have taken an eco-friendly approach to car wash with CleanCart. This mobile car wash facility uses only 1.5 litres of water to wash a car in approximately 20 minutes, significantly reducing water consumption. CleanCart’s portable design features a 40-litre tank, sufficient to wash 25 cars in one filling, further promoting sustainability. The car wash uses a special eco-friendly formulation, and the wastewater is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner, emphasizing our commitment to green practices.
Water management in Coal washery (Closed loop system maintaining zero discharge)
The total washery plant adopts water reclamation system with zero discharge to outside water bodies. The water from de-watering screens and other auxiliary equipment is collected at a central point and fed to thickener to recover water and thicken the slurry. Over-flow from the thickener is fed into the process water tank for re-use in the process. Thickener underflow is sent to Belt Press filters for de-watering rejects fed to the rejects circuit. Water from belt filter process & emergency thickener overflow are collected in slime ponds and finally clear water from slime ponds is fed to the process water tank. A suitable flocculent dozing system is installed to control the availability of water in thickener over-flow for re-use in the plant. Loss of water in operation and in products is made up in the process water tank by addition of make-up water. The requirement of make-up water is greatly reduced due to provision of water re-cycling.
